Waste not

Thursday, May 28th, 2015

Here’s to another evening spent telling my grumpy girl to take her evening shower.  Twitchy woke up many times last night and the night before so Twiggy’s repeated attempts to not follow her bedtime routine do not go over well.

So that’s the bad part.  The good news is we’ve had accomplishments this week that I’m so proud of!  Twitchy got his first tooth two weeks ago and a second tooth is coming out as of two days ago! Not to be outdone Twiggy was one of twelve finalists for a Pasadena “No Waste” art contest.  She received a certificate from the mayor and her drawing on a poster.

Here’s a picture of my babies at their 6 month and 9 year physicals last week. Twitchy tore up the paper covering the examination table.

And so it is written

There you have it.  Twiggy has decreed that we are the nicest parents anyone will ever see until the end of human history!  Woohoo!

Growin’ up

Monday, April 6th, 2015

Little Twitchy got baptized on Easter Sunday.  It was a bit chaotic but it was a good day.  We had Green St cater our brunch.  As usual there was too much food.

On Saturday I had Twitchy try on his outfit.  He was unimpressed but I thought he looked super cute.

With the hat…

Love

Wednesday, March 25th, 2015

It is my sincere hope that Twiggy and Twitchy always get along this well.  Twitchy beams when Twiggy enters the room and is always talking to her (in his way) and smiling.  Twiggy loves to help me with him and talks to him so sweetly.

My baby has become a little hermit crab.  Isn’t she cute?

This was taken at the aquarium.  I love that Twiggy is 9 and still loves to play outside.

Breaking Spring

Wednesday, March 18th, 2015

It’s Twiggy’s spring break so we took some time off work. Like we needed an excuse! We went to the aquarium on Monday even though Jon didn’t want to. Hahahaha. We had a great time especially when we left the aquarium and walked to the lighthouse down the road with a great view of the Queen Mary.  I even had a bonding experience with a lady in the special nursing room at the aquarium. I was nursing Twitchy and she was pumping (lactation consultant lady determined to beat her 14 month old daughter’s nursing strike).

Here we are at the entrance. Even Twitchy looked at the photographer.

It’s been so long.

It seems time has flown but I am going to pretend it didn’t and pick this up again.

It was Twiggy’s 9th birthday a few days ago.  We had a great time at Dave & Busters with family and friends. Twiggy now has a little brother, Twitchy.  Twitchy is my bebé too so I’ll post about them both in this here blog.  In fact, it was also Dexter’s birthday.  Dexter is our beautiful now 6 year old pit bull.  Since we’re not sure exactly when his birthday is he celebrates it with Twiggy.  Mailee, our other pup, celebrates her birthday with yours truly.  Here’s a picture of the birthday kids Jon took with his newest camera.  Aren’t they lovely?!

Twiggy’s friends Abrielle and Annie got to spend time with her at D&B.  They played well together and shared their prizes.  It was good.

No wine for you!

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

While at Trader Joe’s Jon was trying to find some wine for us.  He pointed at this one and asked Phoebe if we should get it.  She said “no… because it has fire!”

Oh well.

Meet BAD Daddy.  It is nighttime and bad daddy has made Phoebe “cri” (cry).

Bad daddy is now GOOD daddy and is back in Hollywood. Unfortunately, there has been an earthquake and the building where he works is tumbling down.

TV

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Although she has seen Dora often, Phoebe has started to really enjoy watching Dora cartoons. I used to hate this show and “Diego” as well because I would get so annoyed by the incessant pauses.
Example:

Dora: Say Buenos Dias!

(5 minutes later…)

Dora: Good! Now say Adios!

(5 minutes later…)

Dora: Good!

(and so on and so on)

Now that Phoebe has become a chatterbox and feels like replying it’s not so bad. The pauses are much shorter when the viewer is interacting I guess. I now think the volume of Dora’s voice is unnecessarily loud but maybe I’m just getting old.

Admittedly we get caught up in Phoebe’s world. Two days ago we were on our way to dinner. Phoebe was holding a little cupcake in her hand that Jon had given her just before we left. She was trying her hardest not to eat the cupcake until after dinner so she became very protective of it.

Phoebe: Mommy! I saw Swiper! He’s outside the window and wants to swipe my cupcake!
Me: Oh no!
Phoebe: Mommy! Daddy! Say “Swiper, no swiping!”
Me & Jon: Swiper, no swiping!
Phoebe: Say “Swiper, no swiping” four times!
Me & Jon: (loudly) Swiper, no swiping! Swiper, no swiping! Swiper, no swiping! Swiper, no swiping!

We’ll do anything for our baby. 🙂
